Rachel "Sas" Saslove

Hashomer Hatzair Camp Shomria Canada
For as long as she can remember (and even a little bit before), camp has been an integral part of Rachel’s life. Known to camp friends, families, and colleagues as “Sas”, she has spent the past three decades working her way through camping as a “staff brat”, camper, CIT, and staff member. During her first summer as a counselor, Sas set her sights on being a Jewish Camp professional and never looked back.
After receiving her MA in Jewish Education and her MA in Jewish Communal Service from the Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University, Sas began her professional tenure in the Jewish Camping field. Her professional roster includes Manager of the Silber Family Centre for Jewish Camping at the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, Director of Camp Raanana at the JCC of Greater Ann Arbor, Assistant Director of Camp Interlaken JCC in Milwaukee, WI, and Assistant Director at Camp Mountain Chai in San Diego, CA. Sas is also a proud alum of the FJC Yitro Leadership Program (Yitro II cohort).
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Sas grew up in the Canadian Jewish Camp community, and is thrilled to be “back home” as the Executive Director/Camp Director of Hashomer Hatzair Camp Shomria Canada. Sas cannot think of a better place to raise the next generation of “staff brat” (her son Parker), and to share her passion for Jewish camping, youth, and education. She is motivated every day by the opportunity to guide a fun and lively Jewish community where youth can inspire and be inspired, empower and be empowered, while forming and nurturing lasting friendships and relationships.
