We are competing against internships, parents who do not see camp as worthwhile and natural attrition. Some camps are finding it necessary to hire non-Jewish staff because they simply cannot find enough Jewish staff members.
How do we run a truly Jewish camp with non-Jewish staff? During this session we will address this question, and offer practical, take-away suggestions about building culture, specific activities for staff training and how to use staff diversity to market camp to families. Help your camp market itself to non-Jewish staff who may be intimidated by the prospect of spending the summer in an immersive Jewish space. This will be an interactive session where we will talk candidly about our assumptions about building a Jewish camp with non-Jewish staff and address the discomfort head-on.
