With four decades of visionary leadership in the Jewish communal world, Silberman has specialized in capturing teen enthusiasm for sports, camp, travel, etc. and transforming it into Jewish identity-building experiences and life-long connections to Jewish life. He is the only Jewish communal professional to be honored by Jewish Sports Halls of Fame at the local, national, and international levels.

His career began at the JCC of Pittsburgh, where he served as athletic director before taking over the JCC’s Emma Kaufman Camp, where he grew attendance from 80 campers to over 800 in just six years.

At JCC Association, Silberman spearheaded the JCC Maccabi Games’ remarkable growth from an every-other-year, 1,500-athlete event in 1994 to an annual gathering of 6,000 Jewish teens and coaches in four host cities just a decade later.

He served on the U.S. Olympic Committee for 14 years and sits on the board and has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled in Ramat Gan (Israel).

During the span of his professional career, his actions have had a positive effect on the lives of more than 250,000 Jewish youth, many of whom have grown up to be leaders in the Jewish community and beyond.
