Establishing boundary guidelines at camps can be challenging. In an era of increasing scrutiny on these issues, how do you protect your campers from abusers and your staff from avoiding the appearance of impropriety while they develop close relationships to your campers?  This presentation aims to convey that establishing and discussing boundary guidelines in the camp environment should not be about instilling fear, rather effective boundary guidelines do just the opposite - they empower counselors to cultivate bonds with campers that are appropriate while fostering leadership skills. We will learn how to approach these conversations in a way that achieves the delicate balance between fostering community and keeping camps (both campers and staff) safe.
