Tikkun Project at the Leo Baeck Day School
Curriculum Development Director
As a camper, Daniel Abramson was always the kid who walked into the dining hall covered in paint or clay. As a staff member at camp, Daniel learned how the arts can be used as a vehicle for teaching meaningful lessons and for exploring identity through thoughtful self-expression. Daniel went on to earn a degree in fine arts from the Ontario College of Art and Design where he studied photography, holography, ceramics, and printmaking and after serving as the Arts and Culture coordinator for Hillel of Greater Toronto for seven years Daniel returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Education degree from York University.

For the past several summers, Daniel has worked as part of the camper care team at URJ Camp George and has helped to implement a first year staff on-going training program. During the off-season, Daniel is busy helping students and teachers explore Social Justice initiatives through their classroom learning. He is sometimes overheard in the hallways of the school talking about the science of colours or about the aesthetics of math, most of the time though he still walks into the room covered in clay.
